Trust Never Sleeps - Spoilers
Written by: Timothy J. Lea
Directed by: Peter O'Fallon
First aired on FX on April 15, 2008
----------------------------------------------------
This episode starts with Cael hitting the road again. Dahlia is worried out of her mind and tries to reach him, but Cael simply throws his cell phone away. He heads for a billiard club where he starts to play people for money to earn his living. He meets another traveller girl and seems to like her very much, when he runs into trouble.
Doug (Wayne) also gets into trouble when a private investigator visits him. He is looking for Pete.
Meanwhile DiDi meets a security guard who is having a crush on her. She talks him into sneaking into other people’s houses.
Back in his office, Doug finds Hugh desperate again. Hugh, the infamous drunk millionaire is in trouble, since a new real estate planner in the majors office is all about the books. He does not agree with the zoning of Bayou Hills, putting the big deal in trouble again. Doug and Hugh rush down to the major’s office, trying to talk to the new person, who proves to be incorruptible. Doug and Hugh are frustrated. As a result, Doug successfully talks Hugh into running for Major.
Dahlia is still playing her charade for the parole officer, who follows her around and discovers that she is hiding her identity from him. He confronts her with his findings, but Dahlia is desperately trying to bribe him into letting her slip, with favors. The parole officer does not fall for it and they part. It is unclear, although likely, that he will turn her in.
As Sam sleeps outside in Caels tent, he catches the private investigator stealing their trash. He remembers the towel he used to clean up Pete’s blood and tells Wayne. Wayne tries to tell Sam that he has a vivid imagination, but Sam is much smarter than that. He follows Wayne as he and Dale try to swap the towel for one with Wayne’s blood on it. Sam assists Wayne in the swap and almost gets caught cleaning up after Wayne. Fortunately, they all get away, but they could not have made it without Sam.
Cael is saved from his troubles by a pair of travellers, who are on the road with the traveller girl he likes so much. With her help they manage to convince him to stay with them a little longer. When he wakes up from his sleep during the next night, he finds himself right back at the travellers camp, that his family left some time ago.

| Again, pretty intense episode this week. I am actually enjoying the ride, but I can see how it could be too intense for some. The show has definitely picked up in speed and twists this season and sometimes I fear it will all end up in one big, confusing mess. But so far, so good. Each episode looks more promising than the other. I really hope they'll renew the show.

| at least with the previews of upcoming episodes we now have a better idea what Minnie Driver was talking about When she said she doesn't have any sex scenes with Eddie Izzard this season, but we do see some "extramarital" sex scenes. I have $5 that says Rosaleen's husband isn't dead.

Oh, good point. What was going on with Cael? Dale did call someone to let them know that Cael was "back on the road". So I am thinking it was a setup all the way, probably to get him back to the camp to do...what? Perhaps to use him to have leverage and to get back at Wayne. What do you guys think the reason is?

Well, I love a good bet, but I don't like the odds, since I have the feeling you could be right about this. I wonder how Quinn will react to Cael and if Cael will let Quinn use him for their plan. Cael seems pretty upset at Wayne, but I think he wouldn't dare to betray his own family.

| Whoa!! tonite was one terrific show! I was worried for a moment that Dahlia might have to do something that she would have been sorry for, but thankfully the parole officer seemed to let her off the hook...maybe.Seems Dale is "earning his keep" so to speak. I mean, I could almost forget for a moment that he's the enemy.Wonder what Cael will do at the old camp? He's bound to run into trouble .I can not imagine how this season will end because so much is now at hand . How I wish that we didn't have to wait another entire YEAR ! This has to be one of the greatest series ever made.

Well we also see Quinn telling Cael that people look up to him (Cael) and that he (Cael) shouldn't resist it ... I think (ESPECIALLY since Rosaleen knew who Quinn was straight off AND we know that Dale reported to Quinn that Cael took off) Quinn is using Rosaleen's *ahem* feminine wiles to try and get in on the Malloy 13 million dollar deal.
Poor Cael! First Tammy sets him up, then Rosaleen screws him over (no pun intended) he just doesn't have much luck with women!

This was a great episode. Very good balance between characters. Good amount of scenes with Cael, it's kind of nice to see him with his own big part. Didi's part was great, she reminded me of Dahlia a bit. And well, I'm gonna sound obsessive here but, YAY big part for Sammy! I was so nerve wracked when Sam ran in and got stuck in there. Thank the lucky stars Dale was there.. I thought it was funny how Sam was always right there when Wayne turned around.
I think Dahlia was so stupid to get involved with the police, more and more with each episode, it is really screwing things.
By the way, I'm gonna sound even more obsessive, but did it say "Cal" on Dahlia's cell-phone? ooh, goof.

Yes indeed, another action-packed episode. My theory is that the writer's strike resulted in a seven-episode season, but they'd already worked out the story arc for the season, and are basically squeezing 13 episodes' worth of plot into seven episodes. Things have really been moving.
Cael, you silly, silly boy. Yes, she's cute, but you had one foot out the door. Should've trusted your instincts (which apparently fell asleep).
Dahlia, what are you doing? Really? Because it sure doesn't look like it.
(Okay, this format has become boring!)
I guess I don't really blame Cael for following his, um, heart. But you just knew it wasn't gonna turn out good. Yes, it's a setup. When Wayne was freaking out in the office and tripped over Dale's mailcart, he let it slip that Cael is missing, and Dale immediately called someone (Quinn probably) to tell him that. Then some other Travellers just happen to save Cael's butt and just happen to take him back to the camp?
I'm willing to give the kids a break, and Wayne has slipped a few times, but overall is trying damned hard to keep things together. Dahlia, on the other hand, is just being stupid. As in "not smart".
Boy, Sam is good, isn't he? I don't know if he's "CSI good", but he proved his worth. He did get himself caught in the hotel room, but he was cleaning up Wayne's mess. I like how Dale was there with a second diversion, allowing Sam to escape. Quick thinking on his part, I must admit, though I'm sure he's just protecting his investment; it wasn't out of any love for Wayne or Sam. Interesting that he later told Wayne that the PI is gone ("watched him leave town"), though we didn't see him leave town. Another body, perhaps? Or just cut to save time.
Not too much for Didi this week, other than her conversation with Dahlia about Cael. She didn't answer the question, though. Edit: Whoa, I forgot! She and the security kid were sneaking into people's houses, and Didi seemed to be going out of her way to create a situation in which they'll get caught. What's that all about?
Grandma must be upstairs taking a nap, and Nina's at home making some hash brownies. I'm sure we'll see them again. But when you're cramming so much into each episode, there will be casualties.

Oh yeah, Cael is being set up 100% ... it was just TOO convenient that those Travelers (From the same CLAN even) were around to save him and Oh yeah! we happen to be heading back to camp despite the fact that we were just at camp in the past couple of weeks (evidenced by knowing who Eamon Quinn is even though Quinn went to prison before Rosaleen was born and has only been back out a couple of weeks at most)
poor poor STUPID Cael... Sorry, I am a big fan of Cael.

It was suggested on another board that perhaps it is part of their cover. Cael is registered at school as Cal ... Dahlia also has Wayne on her phone as Doug.

Talk about stupid!! You guys helped me figure out that Cael IS being set up, no doubt (duh) . And Dahlia is not acting with much common sense. I was shocked that she would have done "anything..right here...right now" with that probation officer. ( I did figure that out by myself | Orbert wrote: | Yes indeed, another action-packed episode. I didn't like that scene. Dahlia's an attractive woman, and I guess the parole officer's a good-looking guy, but I thought the tension there was too forced. Yes, we saw her notice him playing with his wedding band, and yes, he did save her from those thugs. Just as any cop would do. But to suddenly be on the verge of giving herself over to him just seemed too much too soon.
Once again, I'm thinking that the shortened season is to blame, at least partially. If we'd seen them together for a few more episodes, had a few more scenes with them together, there might have been a chance for the tension to build to a believeable level. As it was, I just couldn't buy it. When she said "anything... right here... right now" you knew what she meant, and I just wasn't buying it.
Also, this is all brought on by her sudden desire to "make things right". She's now so desperate to do that that cheating on her husband, in order to keep up a charade (which no one believes anyway), is worth it?
