Let me be the first to start a topic away from The Riches. I am (or used to be) a big fan of Battlestar Galactica, but recently the show started to suck big time.
It was probably the lamest season finale I have ever seen on TV for any show I ever watched.
Just wanted to drop a little rant.

Hey, how did I miss your post?
I am also a BG fan and I agree that the season finale was not one of their strongest. Not sure about it being the lamest ever on TV, though.
But, yeah, the show has been pretty boring lately, which really is a shame because I think they had something good going. Oh well, I will still tune in for next season. Which apparently won't air until some time next year. What's up with that?

Who cares. Honestly, I think I got better things to do then to waste my time. Especially since they moved it to Sunday, I really don't care that much anymore.
Its a shame, since the show started so strong and has now become a soap opera with babbling characters and as much action as we had in Kinder garden.
Well, obviously I am exaggerating but it still describes pretty good what I feel about the show now.

| I've watched a few episodes of the show, and personally I think the show is pretty poor. I wouldn't waste my time watching it, but that's just me.

| personally i think they should have killed it off ages ago. the series finale definitely only perpetuates this idea.

Well, I don't know. I don't give up that easily on something I like(d).
But I agree that the show's been lacking substance lately. I'll still check out the new season next year.

| I watched the first few episodes and have checked in periodically but I just have not been able to get into it. I was a big fan of the original and even liked Galactica 1980, but the new show just didn't do it for me.

I'm a big science fiction fan, but this series never really grabbed me. I can't put my finger on exactly why, though. I mean, it has all the right elements for a science fiction show.
But it's very much darker than, say, the Star Trek series or Babylon 5 or Firefly (RIP), but that alone doesn't bother me. Maybe it's the combination of characters, or it's more soap opera-ish than I care to see. I really liked Firefly, as it had great characters who interplayed very well, and in Serenity too.
Anyway, I ended up missing more episodes than I watched, and it's slipped off my "must watch" list.

Yeah, I know what you mean, thor. For me, it's really the too "soap opera-ish" trend lately. They've shown that they can pull off scifi, but lately it's been more like a soap opera in space rather than a scifi show with some character conflict mixed in. Oh well...
But I agree with you about Firefly and Serenity. What a great show, I still can't believe that we only got 14(?) episodes and how everything was handled.
I truly believe that had it been shown on a different channel/network, it would have faired much better.
Great to see another scifi fan here.

Lets hope that the Riches won't face a similar fate. Sometimes I get the feeling that the big networks do anything to kill off original shows to bring us more mainstream garbage.
Firefly had the potential to become big and a large following crowd, but I guess it didn't fit into some program managers views.
Galactica had a great potential and the Pilot was simply amazing. It was received so well, that they decided to make the show after they had initially only planned a mini series.
From then on it turned into a soap opera as Dahling describes it so well with an occasional interesting scene at the end of each episode to get you to tune in again

Joss really got screwed by the studio honchos on that one. They let him fly with Buffy and Angel, but then all of a sudden they pull the plug on Firefly before a proper season's over and all shot episodes are aired, and then they disregarded the fans protestations, who only aim to misbehave.
I guess they just couldn't get a handle on the "Science Fiction meets the Old West" thing. Maybe it didn't seem realistic to them that they'd use bullets over blasters for close combat, or horses for moving around a planet. But I think that was pretty realistic, as it's cheap and easy and reliable to fire a bullet, where maintaining a portable blaster is sure to be a pain in the patoot. And horses just make sense.
Anyway, we did get "the big damn movie" to tie things up, so I'm relatively happy. I just hated to see the end of that 'verse, because it was such a great place to hang out in.
And now, every time I see Nathan or Adam or any of the others in something different, it just feels weird to me. I guess that's typecasting at its worst.
And backatcha, fellow fan!
