A lot of you have been e-mailing me about any news regarding the second season. So I took the time to look around and find some answers for you. Here is what I found in short (more details and links below):
Filming started in October. Currently, there are seven episodes out of 13 ready to be aired. Production seems to be ongoing. The premiere of the second season has been tentatively scheduled for March (presumably around the same time the first season started). Whether we'll get a full season remains to be seen...
Now, in more detail:
"The Riches" started filming the second season early in October (The Hollywood Reporter).
Wildfires:
Early on, the filming was interrupted by the terrible wildfires in Southern California. There were days when they had to cut filming short or couldn't film at all.
On 10/23 TVGuide announced: "FX's The Riches had to make alternate plans when sheriff's deputies working traffic control at a Santa Clarita shoot were pulled to, like, save lives instead..."
Hollywood Writers Strike:
Obviously, the writers working on "The Riches" are on strike just like the rest (according to TVFodder.com, they stormed the set one day and yelled during filming).
On November 1st the LA Times quoted Nicole Yorkin, executive producer, "We've been told by our strike captains to clear out our offices today..." 'She said she and the writing staff, who work in Santa Clarita, were rushing to write final scenes for the drama's second season, deal with executives' feedback on drafts and make casting choices -- all before the end of day Thursday.'
On November 12th the LA Times reported that 7 of the 13 episodes of the second season had been filmed and that production was shut down.
However, on November 24th Santa Clarita Valley's 'The Signal' reported that production on "The Riches" has continued.
FX Networks president John Landgraf acknowledged that FX is in the possession of seven episodes and 'while he’d rather not run half-seasons of [the show], he will schedule bifurcated runs if the strike grinds out long into the new year.' (Mediaweek)
The start of the second season on FX has been tentatively scheduled for March. (LA Times)

I just wanted to note that IMDB has entries for new episodes of The Riches.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0496343/episodes#season-2
I'd assume that they're based on some kind of knowledge about the show or speculation.
Oddly, the main cast from the first season is not always listed, but they are occasionally. Perhaps the last season's story comes to a conclusion, there's a whole lot of new characters, or the information is piecemeal. Interesting stuff. "The Last Temptation of Wayne" sounds frightening ;-)

Thanks for the info. And please keep it coming.
I also use imdb.com regularly, but you need to keep in mind that technically anybody can submit information as long as they are registered users. So anything found there has to be taken with a grain of salt. For example the air dates don't make any sense at all.
Also, it could be that information was only submitted for the guest actors and nothing yet for the main cast, so that it appears as if they are not in the episodes.
In any case, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The episode names listed do sound intriguing, though.

Oh no, did you guys see the front page? They will only show seven episodes this year?
I have gotten used to the fact that cable shows are only 13 episodes long compared to the much longer seasons of shows on the major networks, but seven?
I just hope that it doesn't ruin the chances for renewal. I mean it's been forever since we saw a new episode, so it's already questionable how many will tune in again. But if we only get seven episodes, how many will actually invest themselves in the show again?
A bit worried here, but I guess we will have to wait and see...

Don't worry Dahling. Seven is a lucky number, 13 is not. I wonder who came up with the idea to air 13 episodes anyways (although its 1/4 of the weeks in a year, it might make some strange sense, who knows, not me).
I am more worried about the long brake. I might have to buy the DVD and see what my favorite show was all about to enjoy the new episodes.
