This show has more layers than an onion and I know the brilliant writers wouldn't create a character without a purpose.
So what about Dr. Morgenstern? There has got to be more to her than we know. I'm assuming that her dementia is genuine, because the writers are more creative than an easy twist like that. But what kind of doctor is she. She has to have made some money in her hundred years on earth, and you know in Eden Falls where there is kael, there is someone who wants it. She is the most mysterious character on the show. If The Riches goes on, I'm sure someone will come looking for her.
At the end of the second season, we saw Dale getting back into his truck all beaten up after going somewhere with Chet Landry. Where did they go? Did Dale kill a third person? I was just starting to like Dale, and almost forget that he killed Pete, but seriously, come on Dale. That was my favorite of the many mini-cliffhangers from The Lying King.
As for Doug, I'm wondering if we will find out more about his past. In the first season Jolinda and her lawyer seem to imply that some of his money may have come from an illegal source. And why did he decide to up and move for no apparent reason? Why leave his best friend Pete and both him and Charene left good paying jobs to go to Baton Rouge, where they had only interviews lined up. What's up Doug?
Finally I have some questions about Wayne. When are we going to learn more about his past? What exactly happened between him and Quinn? And when will he find out about Daliah's probation? I know that he's an orphan and so was Doug. Is there something there?
This show has so many things to uncover, so many secrets I need to know about. Any speculation?

It's unlikely that Dr. Morgenstern has money, as the Riches were getting the bill for her nursing.
I don't know if the private investigator took Dale with him. It did seem somewhat obvious that the investigator didn't know the Riches, and was likely hired by Quinn. The PI had the same easy-talking style as the construction traveller guy. Watching, I assumed it was the construction crew that beat Dale after he had lied to them "for the last time". Good point though, that it could have been the PI getting Dale back for frustrating his investigation. They've really boxed Dale in, and Wayne may need to ally with him.
It's possible that the Riches moved partly to be closer to Dr. Morgenstern. Yet why the Riches did move is a good question.
The Wayne/Quinn thing remains so that more can be written for the next season. The backstory isn't too pivotal since we can see the antagonism or competition between the two.

I think it is really obvious what happened with dale...when Jim dies at the party, Chet is seen outside in his car. Then dale comes to the house. When he leaves to get in his truck it doesn't start and a car just like the one chet was in pulls up with the headlights and dale looks horrified.
The reason dale looks horrified is because Chet has now seen that dale is not just a drunk guy stumbling around the hotel, but that he was there with Wayne/Doug to steal the towel. And now Chet Landry know that they switched the towel, can resolve that they were involved in Pete's dissapearance.
As far as the PI being hired by Quinn, that was neither obvious nor implied. Dale would not tell Quinn that he killed Pete, because then Quinn could just hold it over his head. Dale isn't that stupid. I think the Pete story arch is not connected to the Quinn arch.

Well put.
I'm not sure that Chet would know about the switched towel now, but he could have beaten it out of Dale. In any case, that doesn't help his mission as a PI, since he has no evidence. I'm not sure if this touches Wayne, since the possibly-confessed murderer's word wouldn't count for much.
I thought it was obvious that Chet didn't know the Riches, and may not know Pete's mother (She's worried sick?). Chet is as glib and devious as the travelers are, so I saw a likely connection there. Chet is almost malicious in his pursuit of the Riches, and I wondered where that motive could come from (Quinn? Another enemy?). Hell, it could have even been Hugh wanting his suspicious business partner privately investigated.
I'm not sure who injured Dale. I don't have the episode to check what was going on at the time he was abducted, but he is certainly making enemies himself. Quinn stabbed him with a fork, the construction crew hates him, the PI has probably seen him outside the Riches' house now...

| I think the PI was hired by Pete's mom. They set up in the first episode that season. But it doesn't really matter if Chet has any proof to show the cops, but as long as he thinks that the Riches might be lying, having caught Daliha and Wayne in a lie already, he will continue to investigate Pete's death in Eden Falls until he knows they didn't do it. But he will find out they aren't really the Riches before he finds out what happened to Pete.
